Introduction
Greetings. I offer statistics tutoring to help students be successful in the basic statistics study that is common in high schools and colleges. I also teach statistics and other math classes part-time, and I have experience working with students one-on-one and in small groups. I have master's degrees in applied mathematics and applied psychology. I can provide references for both tutoring and classroom teaching.
Statistics at this level uses a lot of arithmetic and algebra, and adds math concepts and a long list of vocabulary words. So really, statistics is different from most math courses. Learning statistics requires that we use both math and verbal skills, plus an ability to visualize. I approach statistics from that perspective as I help students develop all those skills. For example, I emphasize learning the terminology and drawing graphs as essential to learning statistics. Often, once students develop those skills, using the math formulas and doing the calculations become easier for them. (In fact, some of my most successful students have used their visual and artistic abilities to learn stats.)
Given that most students are primarily concerned with completing homework and solving problems, that is usually the starting point for my tutoring and teaching. Along the way, we work to identify which skills are most needed, and then we focus on those. In addition to interpreting formulas and doing math calculations, we learn the terminology (there's a lot of it in statistics) and then draw and interpret symbols and graphs.

Fees and Payment
- $60/hr cash, check, or PayPal. Payment must be made before the tutoring session.
- 5% discount for 5 hrs ($270 total). Sessions to be used within 6 weeks of purchase.
- Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made less than 12 hrs before the tutoring appointment will result in a 50% charge, except in the case of emergency.
